In a steep rocky incline with the Kounoupas area and the island’s airport as background, lies a privileged residence with a unique view towards the Mykonean Chora and the Aegean Sea.

The building consists of a two storey atrium – like cube which, containing the circulation, seperates internal spaces into three semi – levels, visible from the entrance ledge.

More precisely, the entrance ledge leads to the dining area a few steps down; to the left of the entrance ledge, at a level 1.5 m higher from the dining, two children’s bedrooms are situated, and to its right, at 2 m higher, the master bedroom.

The siting area is placed underneath the children’s rooms.

Adding drama to the theatrical element, a portico hides the corridor leading to the bedrooms.

Sufficient glazing in the double – storey also allows for great views to the Chora and the Aegean Sea.

This unified space creates an atmosphere of amplitude while simultaneously offering privalised entries to each functional area without using doors affecting the exterior in terms of extruded volumes according to interior usage.

Exemplary to this is widened masonry supporting base – due to the site’s decline, which transforms into a balcony platform where the dining and siting areas open up to, while additionally hosting the necessary auxilary spaces (storage, plant room, staff and guest rooms).

The patio is enriched by stone ledges, pergolas, a rectilinear pool and an outdoors sitting area (protected by a masonry wall and a pergola).

Windows comply with Mykonean analogies as narrow cavities on the whitewashed shell.

Paving is of stone tiles mirroring the rocky landscape with careful brushes of greenery.

Internal floors are of tinted cement, while bedroom ones are laid with white – painted oak wide boards. Ceilings consist of wooden boards under untreated chestnut bearns.

Little contemporary furniture along with selected minimalist antiques composes the internal environment.

A tiny chapel, detached from the residence, high up on the rocky hill offers an ideal meditation spot, along with the best view.
